Photographs from the field

Page background

Hi, I'm Cody

I'm an ornithologist from Colorado, currently living in New Jersey. I got into photography on a trip to Denali National Park in 2012. While I've experimented with all kinds of photography over the years, my work and hobbies have converged, and these days I spend most of my time photographing birds.

While I enjoy photography, my real passion is getting outside to new places and seeing the birds that live there. These photos are a record of the places I've been and the incredible species I've found, grouped very loosely by habitat.*

But wait, there's more

This website is a selection of my favorite photographs, but it is by no means a complete collection of my work. To find a particular species or see more, visit my eBird page for birds and my iNaturalist page for everything else. If you'd like to use any of my photos, don't hesitate to reach out!

*Disclaimer: These habitats are very loose categories. For example, winter is not a habitat, but a collection of photos that made my fingers cold. Some photos that were taken feet apart are in different habitat pages, and I admit that the decisions were totally arbitrary and based solely on vibes. I stand by none of these categorizations and will be taking no further questions.
